SUSTAIN-6G
OUR PROJECTS
The SUSTAIN-6G project aims to develop a comprehensive approach to ensure the sustainability of 6G, addressing environmental, social, and economic dimensions. This approach will be applied across key industrial and technological sectors, considering the full lifecycle of infrastructure and services. The goal is to identify the connections between sustainability needs, the challenges that 6G and various industries will face, and the solutions required to ensure that this technology contributes to a more sustainable and responsible future, with tangible benefits for society and the economy.
SUSTAIN-6G will serve as a hub for research and innovation, integrating knowledge from past and ongoing projects. The project will develop new concepts and solutions, bridging technological and methodological gaps while addressing trade-offs between innovation and sustainability. These solutions will be validated through real-world demonstrations to assess their environmental, social, and economic impact. The findings will be compiled into guidelines and best practices to ensure that sustainability becomes a core element in the development of future communication networks and industrial applications. Additionally, SUSTAIN-6G will contribute to European and international standardization efforts, promoting a technological ecosystem that respects planetary boundaries and aligns with EU values.
CyberSocial Lab.’s role will reside in analyzing the social, ethical, and regulatory aspects of 6G, contributing to identifying sustainability needs and defining use cases, with a special focus on the societal impact of this emerging technology. We will develop methodologies to assess 6Gsocial acceptance, identifying key values and sustainability indicators. Through scientific publications, public events, and communication efforts on social media and its website, we will disseminate project results and foster an open discussion on 6G sustainability, engaging citizens, businesses, and institutions.
