HEDGE-IoT
OUR PROJECTS
HEDGE-IoT is an innovative project aimed at developing a digital framework for the energy sector, with the goal of integrating IoT technologies at various levels of the grid and infrastructure. The project seeks to enhance edge and cloud architectures by using advanced AI and Machine Learning tools. Its main goal is to increase the renewable energy sources (RES) hosting capacity of energy systems, unlocking previously untapped flexibility potential. HEDGE-IoT also aims to improve grid resilience, create new market opportunities, and foster IoT standardization by managing and introducing interoperable energy services across scalable platforms and infrastructures.
The project unfolds across multiple dimensions, with a focus on computational resource sharing by offloading applications to the grid edge, utilizing federated learning and swarm computing techniques. Interoperability is another key priority, with the project relying on cutting-edge architectures, such as Data Spaces. Standardization is equally central to ensure seamless communication across all platforms and actors involved. Lastly, HEDGE-IoT promotes RES integration into a resilient, inclusive digital ecosystem, supporting a transition to a more sustainable energy system.
CyberSocial Lab. ensures that all project activities comply with ethical and legal standards. Specifically, we involve defining policies, rules, and best practices to follow throughout the project’s lifecycle. Our responsibility is to monitor activities, ensuring alignment with ethical guidelines and addressing any deviations by proposing corrective measures, focusing on safeguarding personal data and user privacy.
Moreover, CyberSocial Lab. supports the project in risk management and legal compliance, ensuring all partners understand their responsibilities when processing data. A key aspect of our work involves continuous training on ethical issues, with particular attention to the protection of fundamental rights and operational transparency. The guidelines we develop provide clear instructions on data processing and user information, ensuring the project remains compliant with evolving legal and ethical principles.
Two mutually exclusive readings of IoT impose themselves: IoT as the domain of radical emancipation […] versus IoT as a complete submersion into the divine digital Other
